The Fatal Flame - Lyndsay Faye

I've missed Tim Wilde!!! Thankfully he's come back to me. Now I have to wait a whole year for him again, but it's worth the wait!!!

Fatal Flame has a reunion of sort with several of the characters from the first two books coming back. Of course, Tim and Val are still fighting with each other, but not as much. It's like they are growing up and starting to realize it's not worth all the fighting.

Of course, this one has its villains and they are truly villainous. I would so have hated to live in that era, but I love reading about it. Maybe it helps make me think how good I have it today. And the author does not hold back on how brutal those times could be. Her descriptions of the city, at that time, make you feel you are there and living it.

The writing is spectacular and true to the times, there is a dictionary at the front of the book, but unfortunately I was reading an e-galley, but I got the gist for the most part what the words meant. And the characters are so well developed that you feel you know them and want to have them over for tea sometime.

I just love this series and highly recommend you try it out. I bet you'll like it as well. I will definitely be buying this in hardcover, signed, to go with my other two in the set!!!

Thank you Penguin/Putnam for the opportunity to read and review this book.
